Originally from Calvados, Jean-Luc Beaufils honed his craft alongside Denis Leclerc at the Manoir de la Drôme, Michel Roth at the Ritz, and Laurent Delarbre, chef of La Tour d’Argent. In January 2011, he headed for the Chartrons district in Bordeaux to set up his own establishment, L’Air de famille, going for a ‘bistronomy’ feeling. With the elegant sophistication that characterises him, he overhauls classic dishes, revisits family dishes and reinterprets popular dishes in his manner. He is now head chef at the ‘La Maison du Douanier’ restaurant.
Jean-Luc Beaufils is also a member of the French food lover’s alliance AFAMES (Alliance des Friands Amateurs de Mets Epicuriens et Savoureux), a group of chefs from the Gironde who share the same passion for the cuisine of the south-west of France.
