It is sold via direct sales of the whole bird and through producer markets, as well as regional product cooperatives (Charente Coop and Périgourdine) and some restaurant owners.
A real symbol of the Varaignes commune (Dordogne), the turkey is part of an ancient tradition which was revitalised in the 1960s. Nowadays, its renown continues to grow and, thanks to a few producers, we will still hear these turkeys gobbling for years to come.
